7.1.8 Generation of a separation transfer function file

・A separation transfer function file is a file used in the GHDSS module.
・The separation transfer function file is generated using HARKTOOL from ImpulseResponse-ListFile or
TSP-ListFile, and from MICARY-LocationFile.

1. Start HARKTOOL (see 7.1.3 Start up) and click the Separation Transfer Function File button in the
「Select a file type for generation」 window.

２．When the window Separation transfer function file generation is displayed, as shown in Figure 7.26,
input the setting items, and click 「OK」 on the bottom right.

Overview of setting items

Input Data Type
Impulse response or TSP response can be selected.
「Impulse response」 Select this option if obtaining the transfer function from a recorded impulse response.
「TSP response」 Select this option if obtaining the transfer function from a recorded TSP signal.
MICARY-LocationFile
Filename of the microphone location setting file.
Specify the file generated in section
ImpulseResponse-ListFile / TSP-ListFile
Specify the file, either the impulse response list file in section
or the TSP response list file in section
.
Sampling Frequency [Hz]
The sampling frequency of the transfer function.
FFT Length [sample]
The number of bins in the discrete frequency expression of the transfer function.
Impulse Response Length[sample]
Specify the length of one recorded TSP signal, or the impulse response length.
Normalization method
Vector or matrix can be selected.

３．Verify the settings on the confirmation screen (see Figure 7.27).

４．Verify the results on the display of the graph.
　　The row having 「Plot」 in the column 「Value」 can be displayed graphically.
　　Double-click the 「Format Name」 next to 「Plot」 and verify the results
　　on the graphic representation（see Figure 7.28 〜 Figure 7.31）.

５．If there is no problem, save the generated files Figure 7.27「File」 $\to$ 「Save」）

・By double-clicking Transfer Function, the setting screen, as shown in Figure 7.23, will be displayed.
・By setting items on the screen and clicking the 「Show Graph」 button on the bottom right, a graph based on
the settings will be displayed (e.g. see Figure 7.28).
・For each item, see Overview of setting items below.

Overview of setting items

Object of display

Choose one of the following three types of graph to be displayed
Transfer function.
IFF of Transfer function.
Difference of Transfer function.
X-axis Label

If every value is to be displayed, these items need not be specified.
The display range of the X-axis can be specified by Min and Max.
Choose the X-axis label from among the following labels.
Frequency Frequency
Num of Sources Number of sources
Num of Mics Number of microphones
Min Minimum value to be displayed on the X-axis
Max Maximum value to be displayed on the X-axis
Y-axis Label

If every value is to be displayed, these items need not be specified.
The display range of the Y-axis can be specified by Min and Max.
Choose the Y-axis label from among the following labels.
Frequency Frequency
Num of Sources Number of sources
Num of Mics Number of microphones
Min Minimum value to be displayed on the Y-axis
Max Maximum value to be displayed on the Y-axis
Microphone index for display

Select the number of microphones to be displayed.
Microphone index for calculating differences
Display unit

If every value is to be displayed, these items need not be specified.
The display range of the Z-axis can be specified by Min and Max.
Choose the display unit of Z-axis from among the following units.
Amplitude
db
Phase
Min Minimum value to be displayed on the Z-axis
Max Maximum value to be displayed on the Z-axis
Plot Parameter

Select the style of the graph to be displayed.
Plot style
Surface
Color map
